The Patriot's Perfect Season '07

SlideShow from NY Times

Reflect action Undefeated, Patriots were unflappable

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -
When the story of the Patriots' undefeated regular season is written, it likely will focus on blowouts and records and almost unprecedented dominance, but it was composure and resiliency - attributes ingrained in their gridiron ethos - that enabled them to make history Saturday night at Giants Stadium.
The perfectionist Patriots had to rally from their largest deficit of the season, 28-16 with 9:12 left in the third quarter, and maintain their calm in the face of a chippy New York Giants squad to score a 38-35 victory and a perfect regular season.

Just as they had when they trailed the Colts at the RCA Dome by 10 points with less than 10 minutes to go, or when they rallied from a 4-point fourth-quarter deficit against the Eagles, or pulled off an improbable win in Baltimore, the Patriots performed their best when the pressure was on.

That's been their modus operandi since 2001. It's why they're the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season (the league switched to a 16-game schedule in 1978) and the winners of an NFL-record 19-straight regular-season games. Saturday night's win broke their mark of 18, set during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

"I think what you saw was Patriots football," said linebacker Tedy Bruschi. "That's what I'm used to. I've never been used to all of those 52-14 [games] or anything like that. That's new to me. This is what I'm used to, and these are the games that we're used to winning."

It was clear from the outset that part of the Giants' game plan was to frustrate the Patriots, who were desperately seeking 16-0, with taunting, trash talking, and edgy play. Patriots left tackle Matt Light said the game featured a lot of late hits and called it a "dirty game."
"When you sit there and say is it difficult not to say anything, no, because it's in our nature [not to]," said cornerback Ellis Hobbs. "We've had guys talk trash. We've been the underdog. We know what it feels like to be talked down to all the time. We just go out there and settle it on the field and that's what we did."
It was 22 straight points that finally silenced the Giants (10-6).

After Eli Manning, who was 22 of 32 for 251 yards and a career-high-tying four touchdown passes, hit Plaxico Burress for a 19-yard score to give New York its 12-point lead, the Patriots came right back, marching 73 yards in eight plays to cut the score to 28-23 on a 6-yard run by Laurence Maroney.
Then the magnificence of Tom Brady and Randy Moss took over, with the duo connecting for a back-breaking 65-yard touchdown that gave them both their coveted season TD records and put the Patriots back in the lead, 31-28 - after Maroney's 2-point rush - with 11:06 to go Hobbs then picked a fine time for his first interception of the season, picking off Manning at the New England 48 on the following possession to set up a 5-yard Maroney TD run.In the first half, when they trailed, 21-16, the Patriots were succumbing to New York's taunts.
Early in the second quarter, Moss and Co., picked up a 15-yard excessive celebration penalty on Moss's first touchdown, which came two plays after he was decked by New York safety Gibril Wilson. That set up Domenik Hixon's 74-yard kickoff return for a score.
Late in the quarter, Junior Seau was whistled for a 5-yard delay of game penalty on the Giants' final drive before the half for holding down running back Brandon Jacobs following a 7-yard completion to tight end Kevin Boss, who three plays later caught a 3-yard touchdown pass that gave New York its halftime lead.
During the scrum following Seau's tussle with Jacobs, nose tackle Vince Wilfork put his right index finger inside the facemask of Jacobs, appearing to poke him in the face.
Hobbs said the game - which for playoff seeding purposes was meaningless for both teams as the Patriots were locked into the No. 1 spot in the AFC and the Giants into the No. 5 seed in the NFC - was played with the ferocity of a postseason matchup.
"The physicalness, all the after-violence after the play, people getting swung around," said Hobbs. "I'm not even anywhere near the play, and I'm over there tussling with Plaxico or another receiver. That's just the nature of the game, when you get a lot of brothers out there in a competitive environment the competitive nature better come out of you or you're going to get ran over.
"They knew we were going to give it our best shot. We knew we were going to get their best shot. We went blow-for-blow, man."

And as most Patriots opponents have over the years, the Giants got KO'd in the clutch.

The Patriots' performance wasn't flawless, but it was placid under pressure.

"It certainly wasn't perfect," said coach Bill Belichick. "There were a lot of things that were not that good. The Giants made a lot of plays on us, but fortunately we made a couple more plays than they did, and again all the credit goes to the players. They are the ones that made the plays and they made them under pressure.

"They made them when there was little margin for error and when we had to make them, we made them."

Beaucoup de Chien

"Beaucoup de Chien" is pidgin French for "a whole lot of dog",

The Newfoundland is a large, usually black, breed of dog originally used as a working dog in Newfoundland. They are known for their sweet dispositions. They are very loyal to their families and possess natural water rescue tendencies.

Appearance

Newfoundlands ("Newfies") have webbed feet and a water-resistant coat. Males weigh 60–70 kg (130–150 lb), and females 45–55 kg (100–120 lb), placing them in the "giant" weight range.

Most Newfies are black, but brown, gray (very rare), Irish Spotted (black with white markings), and Landseer (black head, white body with black markings) varieties exist. The Landseer is named after the artist Sir Edwin Landseer, who featured them in many of his paintings.

Temperament

Newfies have a gentle, placid disposition. They are nicknamed the "Gentle Giant" and "Nature's babysitter." Indeed, the official AKC breed description says "Sweetness of temperament is the hallmark of the Newfoundland; this is the most important single characteristic of the breed." They are protective of children. The dog Nana in James M. Barrie's Peter Pan was a Newfoundland. (Newfie owners resent the depiction of her as a St. Bernard in the Disney animated film version; the 2004 film Finding Neverland used a Great Pyrenees).

The Newfoundland is smart and loyal. The breed is easily trained as they are eager to please their masters. They are neither easily frightened nor excitable. Relative to other breeds, Newfoundland puppies, especially older puppies, tend to be calm. Puppyhood doesn't last for extended amounts of time as in some breeds. They get along wonderfully with other dogs. They have deep, fierce-sounding barks, but are not good guard dogs. They have been known to grieve when separated from their families. Despite their wonderful qualities, this breed is not for everyone. Their large size makes them difficult to keep in many living situations, although they do not require great amounts of exercise and as puppies they tend to tire easily.

History

The origin of the breed is in Newfoundland on the East coast of Canada. In the early 1880s fishermen from many parts of Europe travelled to the cod banks of Newfoundland were there were two types of working dog: one more heavily built, large with a longish coat, whereas the other was lighter in build, an active, smooth-coated water dog. The heavier one was the Newfoundland and the other was the Labrador or the St. Johns breed of Newfoundland. The dogs were used in similar ways to pull fishnets and heavy equipment.

Health

The health problems associated with Newfoundlands. Newfoundlands are prone to Hip dysplasia (a malformed ball and socket in the hip joint), Elbow dysplasia, sub-aortic stenosis (a heart condition) and cystinuria (a hereditary defect that forms calculi stones in the bladder). When you buy one make sure the parents have

  • a heart certificate (checked by using doppler)
  • a cystinuria certificate(that both are not carriers and neither of them is sick)

Quotes

"The man they had got now was a jolly, light-hearted, thick-headed sort of a chap, with about as much sensitiveness in him as there might be in a Newfoundland puppy. You might look daggers at him for an hour and he would not notice it, and it would not trouble him if he did." Jerome K. Jerome Three Men in a Boat

"Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man, without his Vices. This Praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery if inscribed over human ashes, is but a just tribute to the Memory of Boatswain, a Dog." George Gordon, Lord Byron about his newfoundland.

"Newfoundland dogs are good to save children from drowning, but you must have a pond of water handy and a child, or else there will be no profit in boarding a Newfoundland." Josh Billings

Pondering.......

Be it bent over in a vast rice field planting, sowing, reaping a crop till you drop.
Be it confined to a 25 square foot cubicle, 17" monitor, phone, and a process that needs human input 24/7.
Or fighting a 25 MPH wind at 25 degrees, your feet in a cold wet trench, digging clams, all alone.
Possibly, fitting wing nuts for 25 years on an assembly line to the umpteen washer or dryer.
UPS-ers always take a right turn delivery. day in day out, never not a package to bring, ever.

Virtually all species heart's beat around a billion times before quiting, some beat faster for a shorter duration life-span.
Of the 6 billion folks on the planet, what if .001% [60,000]made a significant difference for 1%[60 million] of the planet.
What are the 99.99% of the bubble to take away, for their billion heart beats.

also,
The inflationary financial cost of daily existence has and will increase decade to decade, relentlessly.

As a example,an item everyone buys, but do not need, say Coffee.
A 10 cent cup of coffee of the 50's, is now a Starbucks 5 bucks$.
What "they get" converts 70 years of what is a coffee worth, since most folks pay it,typically?
A 1950 10 cent coffee gets $5 now. Fifty times growth factor.

Convert that fifty times to wages then and now [1950].85/hr x 50=
$42.50 /hr.
Which should be the Aver Hourly Wage...Now.
Not quite the [2008], $7.25/hr it will be in two years, the Republican Congress finally opened it cold heart?

NOT!

This Weeks Timely Info

Theo Epstein won't talk publicly about Johan Santana, even though the Boston Red Sox appear to be trying to add the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner to their already strong rotation.

On housing prices:
Home prices are also likely to decline substantially. If the economy narrowly escapes a full-blown recession—as we continue to expect in our baseline forecast—a peak-to-trough decline of 15% in house prices is the most likely outcome. This would imply price declines in states such as Florida of up to 30%. If the economy does enter a recession, prices could decline as much as 30% nationwide.

THE HOME ATM

The Irvine Housing blog brings us these details (hat tip Atrios):

Asking Price: $1,249,000

Purchase Price: $1,157,000

Purchase Date: 1/6/2005
According to the Irvine Housing blog:
The property was purchased in January 2005 for $1,157,000. The combined first and second mortgages totalled $1,156,730 leaving a downpayment of $270. Let’s just call it 100% financing.

By April, they owners were able to find refinancing through Countrywide with a $999,999 first mortgage. This mortgage was an Option ARM with a 1% teaser rate. The minimum payment would be $3,216 per month.

Also in April of 2005, they took out a simultaneous second mortgage for $215,000 pulling out their first $58,000.

So look at their situation: They are living in a million dollar plus home in Turtle Ridge making payments less than those renting, and they “made” $58,000 in their first 4 months of ownership.

Apparently, these owners liked how hard their house was working for them, so they opened a revolving line of credit (HELOC) in August 2005 for $293,000. Did they spend it all? I can’t be sure, but the following certainly suggests they did.

In December of 2005, they extended their HELOC to $397,990.

In June of 2006, they extended their HELOC to $485,000.

In April of 2007, the well ran dry as they did their final HELOC of $491,000. I bet they were pissed when they couldn’t get more money.

So by April 2007, they have a first mortgage (Option ARM with a 1% teaser rate) for $999,999, and a HELOC for $491,000. These owners pulled $333,000 in HELOC money to fuel consumer spending.

Assuming they spent the entire HELOC (does anyone think they didn’t?), and assuming the negative amortization on the first mortgage has increased the loan balance, the total debt on the property exceeds $1,500,000. The asking price of $1,249,000 does not look like a rollback, but if the property actually sells at this price, the lender on the HELOC (Washington Mutual) will lose over $300,000.

These owners will probably just walk away. I doubt they have any assets. They never put any money into the deal, they pulled out $333,000 in cash, and they got to live in Turtle Ridge for 3 years. Not a bad deal — for them.
This story has been repeated all across America (usually on a smaller scale). This was not a subprime loan when the home was first purchased, but the collateral is now less than the total loan amount. The house hasn't sold yet, so perhaps the $999,999 Option ARM first is also impaired.

And look at the Mortgage Equity Withdrawal (MEW). One third of a million dollars, or over $100K per year. Perhaps the money was invested. Perhaps it was spent on new cars, flat screen TVs, vacations, or more - but this Home ATM appears out of money, and I suspect that will impact the homeowners' lifestyle.

This illustrates two important points: We are all subprime now, and, with falling house prices, the Home ATM is running dry.

The New Addiction
Cell Phones

IMHO

It’s bad enough in an of itself that the money for the war is borrowed, it’s worse that there even is a war. The worst thing though is that George Bush has been able to scare enough people to vote for him because it has allowed him to put their hands, and ours, on the bag and he’s going to leave us holding it while he is down in Crawford, clearing brush. Because that’s just about the only thing that really interests him.

That day in September was not a good one for America, but compared to the damage that George Bush and his government has inflicted on the United States and the world for decades to come, it’s nothing more than a pothole in the road to history.

10. Be healthy
9. Move to a foreign country (or even visit for health care)
8. Quit smoking
7. Buy used
6. Buy a house you can afford
5. Cut your cable
4. Take your lunch to work
3. Limit small spending
2. Don't buy a pet
1. Move to a lower cost-of-living city

Oh no, you mean I might have to change my life if I want to cut spending?! Yep, there's a lot to dislike here. Then again, if you really need some extra money, many of these ideas can offer significant savings.

The report is an interesting sign that cognitive enhancement, using largely physical interventions such as drugs and implants, is now a topic important enough to trouble the UK's professional medical association.

Many of the ethical concerns center around a potential future where brain enhancing interventions are largely available to the wealthy, leading to a 'brain gap' where the less well off will have relatively poorer mental functioning because they can't access the same cognitive benefits.

Whipsawed by stimuli!

With all the info coming at us 24/7, "We are processing information at
400 times the rate of our Renaissance ancestors," she says. This is a
new human task that we haven't had time to adapt to yet -- physically
or mentally.

That's why we're getting tech-related health problems, like carpal
tunnel, and maybe even mental and neurological problems like
attention-deficit disorder. Naturally our attention is fraying -- we
are whipsawed by stimuli!

Moreover, with that 400 times more information did not come
400 more hours in a day. So we steal that time from sleep, both
deliberately (by working late into the night) and not (by being too
wound up to drift off). Hence another big trend: The burgeoning sleep
industry, with new pills, pillows and, in the big hotels, even "sleep
concierges" all trying to help us get the ZZZs we need.

Another byproduct of trying to pack too much into the day is the
erosion of dinnertime. This, of course, is nothing new. In the '60s
dinner was (supposedly) 45 minutes long. By the '90s it had shrunk to
15 minutes. But as Swanson's investigators traveled the country,
dropping in on real families, they found that the sit-down dinner had
evaporated almost entirely. "It is now basically five minutes," says
Swanson. "And it's not even sitting down."

Families (or chunks of them) eat standing up around the kitchen
counter. When parents are unavailable, kids prepare themselves
"latchkey dinners." Long, slow braising is not key.

What will be key in the coming decade, says Swanson,
is a new focus on science (as opposed to just technology). In an echo
of John F. Kennedy's call to reach the moon, our country will challenge
itself again, this time to save the planet. But first ... we have to
recover.

Sleep-deprived, anxious and strung-out on Easy Mac, we will use the
next 10 years to replenish, Swanson says. We'll do this through yoga,
face time (as opposed to Facebook), slow food, more sleep and
daydreaming. We'll also enlist the help of more organizers: people and
products that can de-clutter everything from our closets to our in-box,
leaving only what is manageable and not completely depressing.

Newly rested and happy, we will finally have time to read the paper again!

And by then we may even be out of Iraq.

1. The Cowboy must never shoot first, hit a smaller man or take an unfair advantage.

2. A Cowboy must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him.

3. A Cowboy must always tell the truth.

4. A Cowboy must be gentle with children, the elderly and small animals.

5. A Cowboy must not adovcate or possess racially or religiously interolerant views and ideas.

6. A Cowboy must help people in distress.

7. A Cowboy must be a good worker.

8. A Cowboy must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action and personal habits.

9. A Cowboy must respect women, parents and his nations's views.

Red Sox Win the World Series

The
Boston Red Sox win the
World Series 2007

I probably watched and enjoyed 70 Red Sox games over the course of this year.
As you probably know,
The Sox dominated early in the season, with a 14+ lead in the East Division standings .
Then they came back down to earth and the dreaded Yankees caught Fire and made me think a Major Choke was in the Making!
Right up to the final week of play.
Thankfully, the Red Sox peaked right at the Right time.
With guttsy pitching and timely hitting.
Cleveland was in control , they thought, to be beat back by the resourceful Sox hitting.
Then the Rockies were more or less an after-thought, to be sweep back to National League standards.
Thank You Red Sox for a Great Season of Baseball !!!

Coffee Green Bean

I've started Roasting my own coffee from Green Coffee Beans, for the last few months.
I found it to be very easy and satisfing to do.
The coffee is far and away better than anything that comes from where ever
You are getting your Java Break from.
The types of coffee beans is extensive, the cost is on par
(w/ shipping costs) to "StarBucks Stuff" and you will taste a diffence.

I use a PopCorn Whirlly to roast the beans, with set-up probably takes 30-45 min to roast 2, 1/2bags of different green bean. Enough for a weeks worth of great fresh coffee.

Or how to Re-liberate Iraq into total destruction, Iran take note.

Well, "The Surge" is Prime Time this Summer in Iraq.
After four years, the military is re-liberating the Iraqi people.
What fool decides to do anything during the hottest most oppressive time of year in the Middle East? With a report card due September?
Must have been some White House i.e. Turd Blossom, pushing politics over the military.
No wonder the Generals are revolting.
NO GOD but GOD

Gus the Newfy

Gus the Newfy

Prelude
I have been looking for a canine companion for six months, since Maxzines' passing.
I have been put off by the so called shelters turned puppy transfer business. The shelters have got the idea they can charge $400 for a dog from some Caribbean Island with 20% pit bull infused in every single animal.
I think it is deceptive, euthanasia is not the answer, but puppy farms and shelters now have the same objective, profit, not good.
Just by chance, I stopped for coffee at the Village Market. I use to go there regularly, since they had the best coffee in town and they had a bench outside to sit in the morning sun and have a muffin and coffee and watch the town traffic cruise by. But, since last Fall I have gotten into roasting green coffee beans and have gotten spoiled from, That quality of coffee.
The owner was behind the counter and asked how I'd been. Somehow she asked if I had a dog yet? Would I be interested in another Newfy?
She knew of one that was being "givin up"....
I said sure I'd be interested, I had been doing daily searches on "the Internet" and informally looking around.
So this situation with the Newfy just fell in my lap.

5/19

Gus arrived 8:30am
He immediately seemed comfortable in his new surroundings.
He is personable, and non-threatening to everyone he has met so far.
[Sonja,John[guy looking @ Dodge,Denise].
He even took to Fiona, the Beagle well.

Noon
Took Gus for a ride in the Van.
Gus did not respond to "lets go for a ride".
He did climb into the open drivers door of the van while I waited on the other side with the sliding door open.
Promising.

To be determined:

rabies shot paper work
call vet for check-up
get some food
fee ?
medical records
Water st connection
how many hours does he sleep during the day
tick & flea guard
------------------------------------------------

5/28/2007

Whoa it has been 10 days since Gus Entered Our World !
Gus has been quite happy to be around me.
He has separation anxiety, never wants to be alone.
Gus sleeps long and well. 8-10 hours a day.
He has no problem sleeping if I am close by, online or whatever.

Aurthur Stickney called a few days ago, said he was getting Gus's paperwork together[actually someone in NH was doing it].

Gus didn't cost anything,a plus, up front anyway.

+ Gus Pluses

well behaved around children
has good hips, moves very well, very fast dog, he can cover alot of territory in quick gait.
sleeps thru the night with out roaming in the house.
Sleeps in separate room no problem.

Holds his business, thru the night with ease.
He is a right hand dog, always wants to be right next to you, right in the middle of the action with no let up,breathing right in your face.
Gus will "SIT" on command

- Gus's Negatives

he wants to be "in your face" all to often, rather annoying at times.
doesn't know "NO" well at all
not well trained at all
attention span is all of 10 sec
may have some sort of breathing issue?
Snores very loudly.
Eats his food very fast, choking himself in the effort.
----------------------------------------------------------
May 31,2007

Bought Gus a kiddie pool @ Walmarts $9.99 on sale
cannot find my mattress air pump, to pump me up....

Gus literally bounded over to see Sonja when she got home, kissed her hand, and sprinted back to the back door to tell me Sonja just got home.[ very humorous]

The Beef Bones Glenn bought for Gus, finally got some attention. Gus worked on one for a hour making a mess and getting as far into the marrow of the bone as his teeth and tongue could reach.[ I advised Glenn" don't buy anymore"]
The bones in the frig turned rancid, I had to throw them out...

Gus and I spent the majority of the day in the Van, taking Mom to Dr. appt.,running around for 6-7 hrs.

Madeline[ from the Village Market] came over to the Post office to greet me. She had heard that I took Gus and wanted to say congrats. Her newfy[ Gus's mom] is close to being "put-down". She is sad about that, but knows it is time.

June 4,2007

Sonja and I, along with Gus traveled to Marshfield, Ma.[12 miles down rte 139 off rte 3] to have breakfast w/ Glenn.
Very nice area, on the water, with lots of beaches and nice homes and eateries.
The breakfast was good but ultra-over priced[$50 breakfast for 3?]
Gus enjoyed the ride, and was a an easy rider.

Later in the day back in Hamilton @ Mom's house.
Gus met Riley and Eric/Carol for the first time. Gus doesn't stress out at all around kids at all. good to know.
He takes them in stride and lets them "hang" on his back.

June 11,2007

The Big "G" puked again this morning. Since I got up at 4 a.m. to take a undocumented pee, I had the pleasure of stepping in it, as I slept-walked to the toilet. After the Sun came up, I was able to inspect the contents of said puke. Carrots and hot dogs were quite apparent, along with Blue Seal Krunchies.
Damn, I did give Gus a bed time treat, little did I know I would be dancing in it before the sun came up...

On a paternal note, Gus got let out this morning,as usual, did his business[no need for play-by-play] and disappeared, not unusual.
I made myself breakfast, needing that first shot of java more than I needed to put on my shoes and chase down a canine.
Plus, it is sink or swim time for the Gus-ter. I do not want to tie him up, outside the door. He has to decide he wants to and knows how to come "Home".
He did come back 45 min later, proud of his adventure and return. Progress...

On my quest to be totally undermined by My Canine Obedience Training...
I set-up a wading pool, something all dogs have access to, in a World meant for Canine Bliss.
Dogs have really set them selves up, Right in their world.
Free Food regularly.
Rent Free, Roof over their Heads.
Able to Sniff areas I would get slapped silly for.
Nap When-Ever
Plus,Hang its' Head out of moving automobile with shit-eating grin, and not be embarrassed.
And to show that Canines have evolved to a much higher level....[possibly surpassing cats].
Training Humans to immediately pick up their hot poop with their hands.
God, I would love to slap every canine that grins at me on that one.[What do you think that tail Wag is all about]?

June 22

Well, the Gus-ters' fur is coming in as smooth as a fleece throw. I am reconsidering the white hair as maybe genetic rather than from age greying. Not that it matters. All Newfys I have seen have some white hair somewhere. Gus doesn't, which is the basis for my suspicions.

Have I had Buyers Remorse? Undoubtedly, I have thought what the [!@#$] did I do this for.
These thoughts are particularly evident during a peaceful evening of TV completely interrupted by continuous really [cough, gagging, hanging]smelly FARTS, care of the Gus-ter. I swear he has some cow gene hidden in his DNA.....

The kiddie pool is a non-starter. Gus is not interested in the least. In the trash.

Gus didn't win any points by putting bite marks in my Mom's cats' head last week. I really wish he hadn't done that.
Annie is no worse for wear, but the Gus-ter has been put on notice, and entering the Hamilton abode now includes segregation of Annie before Gus can join us.

Piaggio MP3=> Summer Fun !!!

So, what do you think of this baby?
Wicked Pissah !!
Talk about putting the training wheels on the front, just to be different.
It does decrease braking distance and increase stability.
Going for a test ride soon.
Will let you know how it goes.

French Waffles

I had a Brain Storm 1st thing this morning.

Making Breakfast I was all set to make French Toast.

Then I glanced at my waffler and thought,

Why not put it in there. ??

My waffler has a clip that allows you to close and clip it shut.

This feature surpasses the problem of the crust of the bread holding the waffler open.

I used French Bread which fit nicely into the two bays of the waffler.

I hope you have this capability.

I dipped the bread and sprinkled cinnamon on the bread and popped it in the waffler.

After steam stops coming off the concoction, it is done.

The results was a fine waffled crust on the outside and a great custard inside.

It was a wonderful Breakfast and I am sure to try it again.

Give it a try.

Let me know how you like it?

Beyond the Brain, Secrets Unrevealed...

Up until recently, The Brain was the last "organ" that was truly mystifying to us as to what was going on,in there....
Not so much any more it seems.
Seems like its complexities are being reveled and manipulated.
Yes, we want to fix difficulties that manifest themselves in the Brain.
MRI scan it,magnify it and map it.
But, like Mother Earth, it is one thing to find out what, where, when how.
Quite another, to determine and change the WHY.
Caution should be the rule of the decade as we delve deeper into this organ that still holds alot of Secrets from us.

Interesting how just one thing reached it's "Tipping Point" and sustained this guy for a life time.

There is No Free Market when it comes to Oil.....the 20% Solution....

IMHO....

On this Memorial Day, a day when American citizens express their thoughts and prayers
to the brave soldiers that give there lives to uphold a principle and obediently obey the people we elect,
regardless of rhyme or reason.

Let us put our thoughts also toward what and why our children are dying for.

As the cost of OIL that comes out of the ground stays constant ~ $10/barrel.
Whether it comes from the Arctic,Middle East, Mexico or the USA,
The Powers that Be, have continued to, on speculation, raised the price of OIL to ~$65/barrel.
How else can BIG OIL make extravagant historic quarterly profits?
The conflicts in the Middle East is, and that is a big IS, for the power to control OIL.
Mostly to maintain the status quo. Keep it in the hands of the people that are in power now.
The USA gets 20% of its Oil from the Middle East.
Guess how much OIL the country would save if the speed limit was dropped to 55MPH national and enforced....20%.
My solution to the Middle East quagmire.
Jobs, education, and taxation of all of the people of the Middle East.
A real dose of Democracy.
If the USA had a naval blockade at the Strait of Hormuz stopping and taxing every barrel of oil that's exported.
Say 20%...
Then that money turned over to the people of the region in micro-loans to start businesses, go to school, buy TVs.
The whole region will think more about their stable future and less about their after-life.

Vail of Vitriol

As the slaughter and mayhem continues unabated on the streets of Baghdad and throughout Iraq.
The MBM [major broadcast media or major bowel movement] has turned its sights on lesser easily punditcated events.
Paris Hilton gets a PASS card to get out of JAIL.
Putin and Bush play"My missiles are bigger than your missiles.
The G8 summit has metastasized into a convoluted policy of deception and non-action,and missed opportunities.
The death toll passes 3500 young American lives lost. About the same as a small town.
If each death affects 1000 people directly,
3,500,000 folks,[1%] have personally felt the flailed jujitsu of the Bush Iraq War Performance.
The American Noosphere may have reached it's "Tipping Point"
Lame-Duck Bush continues to steer the ship toward the reef, wasting more lives, money, sticking to his "guns".
The Middle East, pancaked hatred, will continue to stack up, no syrup necessary.
So, as Gandhi said" First they laugh at you, then they ignore you, then they fight you, then they accept you.
Our American Idol v.s. Our American Soldier... which is it...

Time to put the Gloves on folks.

Vonnegut's Voice

I really wonder what gives us the right to wreck this poor planet of ours.
-

Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.
-

Human beings are chimpanzees who get crazy drunk on power. By saying that our leaders are power-drunk chimpanzees, am I in danger of wrecking the morale of our soldiers fighting and dying in the Middle East? Their morale, like so many bodies, is already shot to pieces. They are being treated, as I never was, like toys a rich kid got for Christmas. (via Eddie C)

True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.

National Priorities Project - Local Costs of the Iraq War

National Priorities Project - Local Costs of the Iraq War

Proposed Discretionary Budget, FY2007 Request

FYI from National Priorities website

Proposed Discretionary Budget, FY2007 Request
Thursday, 27 April 2006
The following pie chart illustrates the Bush Administration's proposal for federal discretionary spending in fiscal year 2007. The discretionary budget refers to the part of the federal budget proposed by the President, and debated and decided by Congress each year. This part of the budget constitutes more than one-third of total federal spending. The remainder of the federal budget is called 'mandatory spending.' Fiscal year 2007 runs from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007.

This chart includes only $50 billion in anticipated spending for the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan, which was what the Administration specified in the Fy2007 budget proposal. However, it is likely that the wars will cost between $100 - $125 billion for the fiscal year.

Saw Naomi Wolf on MSNBC this morning.

She was very clear and honest speaker on the now raging issue of,

Racism,sexism,Men,Women and history.

I think MSNBC should seek her out to replace Imus the Blow-Hard.

I did check out the site,

Urban Dictionary

I must say I am out of the loop when it comes to how vile

"we" have  allowed our citizens to refer to one another with out protest.

A new baseline has to be drawn.

"nappy-headed hos"

The Rutgers female basketball players called "nappy-headed hos" by Don Imus are ready to voice their opinions on the remarks that led CBS Radio and MSNBC to suspend his morning talk show for two weeks.

Totally out of bounds, and totally typical of Imus at his crappiest.

I never liked Imus much.
Mostly his holier than thou attitude and the host of half-ass-ed guys he had on around and supporting him.
They all were lowest common denominator type agenda journalism.
Always forcing out a jib-jab to be sarcastic or cock radio humor by put-down, politics.

To hear Imus say today, that his show is basic comedy show took me back a little.
He has always made a point of making a political point.Pundit forced feeding Cable News.
So, now he says he is sorry, basically, you-all are taking me way to serious?

Sorry Imus, not only are you getting old.
Your shtick is too.
I hope the advertisers remove their support. The only thing that will get the show canceled.

Watch out Rosie is looking for a spot! MSNBC would be smart to look that way.

Capmmunisim=> Dead Pets

In the wake of the latest incidents of Guinea pig consumerism.

A circumstance in which, not only has the Pet Food Industry revealed itself as a irresponsible mega-corporation.

But, the ugly truth of 90 odd pet products, from premium to Wal-mart grade pet food get basically all the same ingredients.

Ingredients from the lowest common denominater. i.e. China .

Wheat field that have the lowest[if any] regulation or inspection.

All to generate the highest profit possible.

You’re On Candid Camera

http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=190314&format=&page=1

IMHO:

During a Hospital stay.

Should a patient or a child's parents have the right to put a nanny camera in the patients' room?

I think they should no matter what the hospital thinks about the rights of the Doctors and employees.

Should it be videoed secretly? Why not.

The people coming into the room are preforming a service.

Which is being paid for.

The hospital is responsible for the conduct of everyone that goes into that room.

Accountability, is the only thing that is being checked on.

And that is a good thing.

Get Use To It.

Unforgettable Elephants Nature [PBS]

Wildlife cameraman Martyn Colbeck shares his insights and footage of African elephants that he has captured over a 15-year span.

An incredible show, elephants are such a great species.
The Earth Series last week and last night about Par ire Dogs and the loss of the Prairies was great also.

Ann Coulter's Face on Toilet Paper

clipped from gigglesugar.com

GiggleSugar Exclusive! Product of the Day: Ann Coulter Toilet Paper

I think I speak for most people (no matter what their politics), when I say that Ann Coulter just needs to shut her pie hole. Her hate speech, poorly disguised as political commentary or "jokes," should get no more attention from mainstream media. C'mon now--Coulter's not serious enough to be a political commentator and not funny enough to be a comedian. Since it's unlikely she's going away as long as we take her seriously, I say we should stop talking back--and start wiping.
